Silk Roads Institutions

There are many different cultural, artistic, and academic institutions around the world that devote themselves to research, study, and activity relating to the Silk Roads. This is of great importance in terms of enriching our understanding of the historic Silk Roads, yet unfortunately these institutions frequently carry out their work independently of one another with the outcomes of their activities remaining isolated and inaccessible to other academics and members of the public.

The Silk Roads online platform provides interactive profiles for these partner institutions, through which they can share and promote their knowledge of the Silk Roads and their research efforts going forward. This portal is a platform of dialogue and exchange for these institutions, encouraging a wide-ranging holistic approach to the study of these routes.

While all efforts have been made to present an overview of publications relevant to the Silk Roads, the content and information provided by the works presented here are in no way exhaustive and do not imply the expression of any opinion on the part of UNESCO, nor the endorsement of any of them. UNESCO is not responsible for the contents or opinions expressed therein, which are not necessarily those of UNESCO and do not commit the Organization.
